Sacramento
River Cats vs. Colorado Rockies

It was another year featuring Major League Weekend in West Sacramento and this time the Colorado Rockies visited the triple-A team of the Oakland A's, the Sacramento River Cats. Going up there to take pictures is becoming more of the norm for me, and it's still just as good a time as ever. It's a great atmosphere for baseball and the weather was perfect.

The Rockies took this one by a score of 10-5 but the River Cats at least made it respectable after getting down early, 8-1. For a minor league team to score 5 times and put up double figures in hits against a team comprised mainly of major league talent isn't too shabby, though. River Cats first baseman Graham Koonce provided the main highlight for the home nine with a 2-run homer in the last of the 8th.

As for the pictures themselves, they came out well. I had a seat very close to the dugout and the 3x lens came in very handy. I used a shutter speed of 1/2000th of a second and tweaked the rest of the settings to let enough light in. I did have to use a setting of ISO 100 to help compensate for that, but most of the pictures still came out pretty well. I can definitely see where some of the limitations of a 3.3 megapixel camera come into play, though. There's only so much sharpness you can get. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions, comments, etc.
