Tall and leanly built with hard corded muscles, this Varati male isn't as imposing in stature as some of his kin, but what he lacks in bulk he makes up for in personality and a potent personal aura. Dark eyes view the world about him with an easy charm, his gaze almost lazy in its perusal. But there is a keen awareness and a glint of humor that sparks in those eyes, bringing them to life. When focused, that near black gaze brings the full intensity of his character to bear upon whomever he is engaged with. Long wavy black hair is worn free and loose, cascading down his back in a fluid line. His face, already resplendant with character is merely enhanced by short, neatly trimmed beard and mustache. Thick elegantly arched eyebrows and a prominent nose serve only to offer variety to his features. His skin reminiscent in color to a light fragant tea, the honed muscles beneath indicate rigorous physical exercise.
Known History
Ranjeet was born into a large family of vaisya weavers, embroiderers, and tailors, and followed in his fathers footsteps to gain at an early age the distinguished title of Master Tailor for his Clan. However, being originally from a small and undistinguished clan in the east, this was perhaps not so great an honor. His Clan was eventually overrun by a neighboring Clan while Ranjeet was traveling to visit relatives. Managing to escape notice upon his return, Ranjeet set out to find a new Clan to adopt, looking for one of prestige and postion so that he might be able to truly acheive a name for himself. The extensive travel gave the young Varati something that set him apart from many of his competitors - a vast level of experience and knowledge of different fabrics, designs, and styles. Finally his travels brought him to the Clan Al'Samar - second to none in accessiblity to trade routes and quality of products. Within six months, Ranjeet had been made a name for himself amongst his newly adopted Clan, raising himself up high enough to catch the attention of Al'Samar's shakir, Nefer Maat.In an attempt to please the God-King Khalid Atar, Ranjeet was summoned to the city of Haven to help prepare for the wedding by designing the soon-to-be Queen's ceremonial gown as well as clothes for the Amir-al. He was a success, and soon all of Haven's elite knew his work, if not his name. He followed this effort with a gown designed for Empress Aurora Khalida upon her wedding day as well, proving that he could adopt and create clothes to suit other races and temperments as well as Varati ones. Ranjeet's success continued as he made an unprecedented step from mere tailor to Seshmew, second in command of Clan al'Samar, though he still continued to craft incredible clothes in addition to his new duties. For a period of three months, however, he left Haven. Word had it then he returned to vara al'Samar to quell disorder and dissent that was breeding there due to the overlong reign of a female Shakir. Few know what happened, but the Seshmew returned hardened and with a bitter edge to him for awhile.
With the plage, Ranjeet lived most of the time in Tent City, working by the side of his devoted Shakir, despite the fact that those they served and toiled over were mostly Empyreans.
Now, again, another rare honor has been bestowed upon this once humble tailor. The God King himself has recognized Ranjeet's good works and valiant spirit, and has choosen to reward the worthy Varati by adopting him into his own clan, Khalida. Now of the kshatri caste, Ranjeet has in addition to his honor be promised a suitable wife. But no ordinary kshatri woman is to be his. Indeed, his wife to be is none other than Shahar Khalida, Pasha and Shakir of Clan Khalida. There is some murmuring about just how this particular Varati has managed to be so blessed. Some say that he deserves it, and it is the blessing of the Amir-al upon him. Others hold less favorable opinions. At this time he continues to tailor for personal pleasure, though his work is offered as gifts, no longer can he accept money for his clothing. It is uncertain though what Ranjeet will do now that he is of Clan Khalida. Will he simply settle down to a family life? In there is question as Imphada Shahar was unable to produce an heir for her previous husband, Imphadi Kiral. One thing is certain ... many eyes rest upon this particular Varati with keen interest.
